VoiceQ ​

The Cologne vocal formation VoiceQ has been on the road for over 20 years. The band was even founded in the last millennium, when bassist Martin Kratzenberg, inspired by the film “Comedian Harmonists”, looked for suitable singers for his own a cappella group via newspaper advertisement. The founding phase lasted almost two years, until the first permanent line-up was finally established, the first few years as a quartet.

Right from the start, the program featured the famous hits of the 20s / 30s as well as pop hits from the 80s. In the first few years, VoiceQ also performed at the Cologne Carnival.

After two years the decision was made to leave the a cappella world for a while and supported the polyphonic singing with instruments (violin, bass, guitar) and presented itself with several guest musicians as the vocal pop band "Shade of Pale" . In 2003 and 2004 Shade of Pale (as the opening act for Outlandish and Motorhead) performed successfully on the RTL stage at the Cologne Ring Festival, and at that time received a special feature in the RTL night journal.

In 2005, however, the decision was made to exclusively pursue the love of pure a cappella singing, and only started as a trio, with the label of being the smallest but most effective vocal formations in the world.

The program remained mainly in the 20s and 80s, but was increasingly expanded and reinvented again and again ... the result was the product "For all People", a hands-on a cappella show in which the audience was actively involved in the show, and there was participation in Ballhaus revues, in which VoiceQ gave the burlesque dancers a brilliant counterpart with music from the 20s.

In 2018 VoiceQ toured China in Beijing, Baoding and Shanghai, where it made German a cappella music known and also celebrated Chinese pop hits.

The special thing about the VoiceQ program is the personal relationship to the individual musicians ... it tells stories about Womanizer Martin, the romantic Carsten, the crazy Professor Robert ... about love, passion, courtship behavior and love pain ... everything is always original and missed with a charming wink ...
